3 Day Loop Walk in Fiordland
Welcome to the Humpridge Track — New Zealand’s 11th Great Walk. Our 3-day loop takes you along the rugged south coast, up into the sub-alpine zone of the Hump Ridge, and through ancient native forest, crossing historic viaducts along the way.
Two backcountry lodges in superb locations offer a genuine step up from a typical DOC hut experience — with upgrade options to make your adventure as comfortable as you like.
On Top Of The World
“I’m on the top of the world lookin’ down on creation” — famously sung by The Carpenters, but actually written by Dorothy Sherriff, a Tuatapere local inspired by the very ridge you’ll be walking.
The Humpridge Track even has its own theme song. For the walk’s opening in 2001, kiwi musician Brian Ringrose penned “Let’s Take A Walk” — a tune that captured the huge community effort behind getting this track off the ground.
