End of Tramp Upriver Experience
Rather than walking out to Rarakau from Port Craig on Day 3, take the WJet Boat out on the Wairaurahiri river! After walking our track and spending the first two nights in our Okaka Lodge and Port Craig Lodge, tramp back on the historic tramp line over the viaducts to the mouth of the Wairaurahiri River. Where you will be collected by the WJet and experience an exhilarating 35km upriver ride and then cross over Lake Hauroko to the boat ramp.
Cost Includes:
- Day 1 – One way transport from Tuatapere to Rarakau ($30pp). Accomodation at Okaka Lodge.
- Day 2 – Walk from Okaka to Port Craig, overnight at Port Craig Lodge.
- Day 3 – Walk from Port Craig to Wairaurahiri River, meeting the jet boat at 2pm. Jet boat 35km upriver, cross over Lake Hauroko to the boat ramp. Transport back to Tautapere with the WJet operators.
- Jet Boat ride up the Wairaurahiri River to Lake Hauroko and return (transport included) – $299pp / $175per child (16 years & under)
- 3 days and 2 nights on the Humpridge Track – packages start from $445pp

All Day Adventure
Add on the All Day Adventure on either side of your Humpridge Track booking! This is 90+ km’s of jet boating fun! The Wairaurahiri River is one of New Zealand’s wildest, exciting, remote and totally natural rivers in southern Fiordland. Leaves Lake Hauroko boat ramp at 10am. Set off across New Zealand’s deepest lake, then drop 600 feet via the wild Wairaurahiri River to the rugged south coast to the Waitutu Lodge. A delicious BBQ lunch and nature walk complimentary. Accompanied by friendly and local hosts. (Approx. 6hour duration). Minimum number 6 adult guests. Enquiry for availability for less than 6.
